AITI - mPedigree Technology Transformation Seminar

Can Ghana Lead the World with Technology?
Decades of low emphasis on Ghanaian innovation has led to the impression that technological advancement is a largely imported phenomenon. Most people presume that originality and excellence are largely alien to Ghanaian, even African enterprise; this seminar is designed to change that. In collaboration with mPedigree, the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT presents a Technology Transformation Seminar under the theme: World Class Innovation Made in Ghana Three impressive home-grown technology projects will be profiled, all of them featuring world-first or world-class innovations.
1. Did you know that efforts towards the development of a fully integrated computer manufacturing and assembly industry have be en ongoing for a while now in Ghana? What would you say to a multi-functional laptop offering the latest in electronic performance, and bearing the label: Made in Ghana?
2. Did you know that Ghana is the first country in the world to implement a nation-wide electronic quality assurance mechanism by means of which consumers can query the full origins of a consumable for free right at the point of purchase? And that Ghana is thus on course to introducing a global standard in supply chain management?
3. Did you know that a Ghanaian team is solving the biggest hurdle obstructing regional trade and commerce in Africa? How to move small sums of money easily and conveniently to buy personal items in a system where credit cards and internet shopping sites are rare to non-existent?

This event, which took place on 17th of July, 2008 had the Kofi Annan ICT Centre main Auditorium at Ridge filled with Senior Government Officials, Captains of Ghanaian Industry, and some of the country's leading entrepreneurs, inventors, innovators and students.
